ITINERARY

Overview

Sikkim, nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, is known for its dramatic landscapes, Buddhist monasteries, and views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. This itinerary covers the essential highlights of East Sikkim, offering a blend of spirituality, adventure, and natural beauty.

Morning: Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station and drive to Gangtok (approx. 4.5 hours). Enjoy the views of the Teesta River along the way.
Afternoon: Check into your hotel. Visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and the Do Drul Chorten stupa.
Evening: Take a leisurely walk on MG Marg, a pedestrian-only zone filled with shops and cafes.
Night: Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Morning: Depart early for Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake), a glacial lake at 12,400 ft. Continue to Baba Mandir, a shrine dedicated to an Indian Army soldier.
Afternoon: If permits allow, visit Nathu La Pass on the Indo-China border (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays).
Evening: Return to Gangtok. Visit the Enchey Monastery for a peaceful evening view of the town.
Night: Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Morning: Visit the Rumtek Monastery, one of the most significant centers of Buddhism in the world. Stop at Tashi Viewpoint for a final glimpse of the Himalayan range.
Afternoon: Visit the Flower Exhibition Centre to see Sikkim’s famous orchids.
Evening: Drive back to Bagdogra or NJP (approx. 4-5 hours) for your return flight or train.
Important Note: Permits are required for Tsomgo Lake and Nathu La Pass. These are usually arranged by local travel agents a day in advance with valid ID proof and photos.
