  • 📅 Day-by-Day Itinerary

    Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Gangtok

  • Morning/Midday: Arrive at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP). Drive ~4–5 hours alongside the Teesta River up to Gangtok (alt. 5,410 ft).  
  • Evening: Check into your hotel and take a leisurely walk down MG Marg, Gangtok’s vibrant, pedestrian-only central avenue.  
  • Night: Overnight stay in Gangtok.  

    Day 2: Gangtok to Lachen (North Sikkim)
  • Morning: Get permits issued (managed by local operators) and start driving toward North Sikkim (~6 hours).  
  • En Route: Stop by Seven Sisters Waterfall, Singhik View Point, and Chungthang Dam.  
  • Evening: Arrive at the peaceful mountain village of Lachen (alt. 8,800 ft). Rest and acclimatize to the higher altitude.  
  • Night: Overnight stay at a hotel or homestay in Lachen.  

    Day 3: Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake – Lachung
  • Early Morning (4:00 AM): Drive up to Gurudongmar Lake (alt. 17,800 ft), one of the highest and most sacred lakes in India, surrounded by majestic snow peaks.  
  • Afternoon: Drive back to Lachen for lunch, then proceed onward to Lachung village (~2.5 hours).  
  • Night: Overnight stay in Lachung.  

    Day 4: Lachung – Yumthang Valley (Valley of Flowers) – Gangtok
  • Morning: Visit Yumthang Valley (alt. 11,800 ft), known for hot springs, snowfields, and vibrant flora. (Optional: Drive further up to Zero Point / Yumesamdong for snow views).  
  • Afternoon: Head back down towards Gangtok (~6 hours drive).  
  • Night: Overnight stay in Gangtok.  

    Day 5: East Sikkim – Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir & Nathula Pass
  • Morning: Drive towards East Sikkim to visit the glacial Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake) at 12,400 ft.  
  • Midday: Pay respects at Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. If permits allow, proceed to Nathula Pass (14,140 ft) on the Indo-China border.  
  • Evening: Return to Gangtok. Explore local cafes or buy handicrafts.  
  • Night: Overnight stay in Gangtok.  

    Day 6: Gangtok to Pelling via Ravangla & Namchi
  • Morning: Depart Gangtok and head toward West Sikkim.  
  • En Route: Stop at Buddha Park (Tathagata Tsal) in Ravangla to see the 130-foot golden Buddha statue surrounded by mountains. Continue to Namchi to visit Char Dham.  
  • Evening: Arrive in Pelling and enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga.  
  • Night: Overnight stay in Pelling.  

    Day 7: Pelling Sightseeing & Heritage
  • Morning: Visit the Skywalk and Pemayangtse Monastery.  
  • Afternoon: Walk through the historic Rabdentse Ruins (the former 2nd capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim) and visit sacred Khecheopalri Lake.  
  • Evening: Relax at local viewpoints or sample traditional Sikkimese dishes like Thukpa and Momos.  
  • Night: Overnight stay in Pelling.  

    Day 8: Departure from Pelling
  • Morning: Check out after breakfast and drive ~4.5–5 hours back down to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or NJP Railway Station for your departure flight/train.  

    💡 Essential Permits & Travel Tips
    Inner Line Permits (ILP): Required for visiting North Sikkim (Lachen/Lachung) and East Sikkim (Nathula Pass/Tsomgo Lake). Keep passport-sized photos and original IDs (Voter ID/Passport) ready.
    High Altitude Precaution: High-altitude locations like Gurudongmar Lake (17,800 ft) have thin air. Carry warm layers, stay hydrated, and carry portable oxygen cans if needed.
